Kia Syros (Clavis) Compact SUV Unveiled: The upcoming Kia Syros (Clavis) is set to be launched in India in the next few months, bringing with it a suite of advanced features and technology. Kia India has recently released design sketches of this new compact SUV, giving a first look at the model developed under the company’s “Kia 2.0 transformation strategy.” The sketches reveal a fresh “Design 2.0” aesthetic, inspired by the EV9 and Carnival Limousine, with promises of a “lounge-style premium interior” and futuristic tech features, including an innovative seating layout.

The teasers show a bold exterior design with tall pillars, a flat roofline with functional roof rails, L-shaped LED tail lamps integrated into the pillars, and a boxy rear complemented by a bold front fascia featuring vertical LED Daytime Running Lights. The compact SUV is expected to fall in the sub-four-metre category, with a spacious greenhouse design aimed at maximizing cabin roominess and offering generous boot space. The Syros (Clavis) will likely sit between the Kia Sonet and Seltos, potentially introducing a new segment in the Indian market with its larger proportions and upscale positioning.

According to Lee, the Syros or Clavis will deliver “segment-first features, exceptional performance, and unparalleled comfort” crafted to appeal to Indian buyers who seek premium quality.

Under the hood, the SUV is likely to offer multiple engine options. The base variant may be powered by a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT. There could also be a CNG option for increased fuel efficiency. For higher-end trims, Kia might introduce a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, outputting a robust 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
